
Manuel Enríquez
Manuel Enríquez is a photographer and documentary filmmaker from Mexico City who seeks out movement and sound in his photographs.
He currently portrays the underground art scene in Mexico City. He collaborates with renowned musicians such as Ana Ruíz, “the pioneer of free jazz in Mexico,” and the dancer Eugenia Vargas, a master of Butoh dance.
He is the co-founder of “Manglar Sesiones,” a studio dedicated to creating an archive of experimental music in Mexico since 2020, and also works on personal projects focused on the discursive study of photography.
Winner of awards such as “Hazlo en corto” for his documentary “El hoyo Barrio vivo” filmed in Mexico City in 2018, and director of independent documentaries such as “Alquimia” in 2021 and “Semilla de Fuego,” a collaboration with Pasaporte Cultural in 2022.
The documentary and the unexpected, both in his work and in his life, are the light that illuminates his photographs.
