Luz Marie Iturbe
Luz Marie Iturbe is a visual artist based in Austin, Texas. She specializes in oil and acrylic painting on canvas, cardboard and paper, mixed media, watercolor, and drawing. She studied design in Mexico City where she grew up.
People, but especially women throughout history, with different cultures, nature, landscapes, or simple scenes, have intrigued her since a very young age, and, more than that, the relationship between them. To capture the essence of what she sees and what surrounds her is her main purpose, she loves to learn and deepen her knowledge about subjects to be able to express emotions.
Throughout her painting career, she has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Mexico City, Austin and Barcelona.
In addition to visual art, upon moving to Austin in 2009, Luz Marie began illustrating children’s books, participating in the SCWI (society of children book writers and Illustrators) in various conferences and Workgroups. Illustration has allowed her to always look for new forms and resources and at the same time explore new media while she feels freedom and joy.
“Through art, we can look for our true essence, no matter if we make it or simply enjoy other artists’ work. Art it’s what makes us diverse, and perfectly imperfect humans,”
