Irannis Mejias
Irannis is a creator who, during her six-year stay in Seville, found not only a temporary home but also the root of her artistic gaze. It was there that she came into direct contact with the religious practice and aesthetics that permeate the city: its rituals, its imagery, and its symbolic intensity. With a background in the world of illustration, Irannis absorbed those visual codes and transformed them into her own language.
Her work approaches religion through the lens of its iconography—a perspective that is never gratuitous—combining observation and reflection with a touch of sharp satire. This intelligent, sometimes uncomfortable irony disarms the viewer and forces them to question what we usually take for granted. The result is pieces that play between devotion and irreverence, between traditional beauty and a contemporary gaze, making her work as unique as it is recognizable.
